[Culture de l’Imaginaire] Avengers – Une Bande dessinée de 1969

Steed and Tara Story Seven from TV Comic issues 914 to 920, dated 21st June to 2nd August 1969.

A police escorted lorry with a covered load rumbles through London in the early hours of the morning, when suddenly..

Yup.. mist, not Fog..!

The lorry’s load is taken, and Steed and Tara King are called to investigate the missing mole.. MOLE.. MOOOLLLLEE [see Austin Powers!]

Not any old mole though, a mole to bore robots with.. or is that a robot boring machine ..!

The gang of criminals are hiding out underground where their strangely hooded leader boasts of the crime of the century..

It does seem strange that the leader is hooded as even when he is seen without his mask on later, he doesnt turn out to be anybody well-known and is not even named.   Maybe the artist John Canning was saving on a bit of work?!

The leader escapes on foot through Traitor’s Gate in the Tower Of London, although from a visit a few years ago I was thnking that you could only get through the gate in a boat?

Once again – not one of the best few – but worth reading and has nice shaded artwork from the time before John Canning’s work became more rushed.
